Cruise ships do not permit smoking of any tobacco products inside staterooms, on balconies or verandas or in most public areas. However, there are designated smoking areas on the ship. Some cruise lines, like Holland America and Princess allow the use of electronic cigarettes in cabins, but most cruise lines apply the same no smoking policy to electronic cigarette, or vaping, usage, and only allow them in designated areas.
